This covers domain names you register, renew, or transfer through NameCrane LLC ("NameCrane," "we," "us"), an ICANN-accredited registrar (IANA ID 4329). By registering a domain you agree to these terms, to our Terms of Service, and to the ICANN policies referenced here. We've written this in plain English; where ICANN requires specific wording, we've kept it.

1. Your responsibilities as registrant
1.1 - Accurate data
You must provide accurate, reliable contact details and update any change within seven (7) days.
1.2 - Consequences of bad data (ICANN-required)
Your willful provision of inaccurate or unreliable information, your willful failure to update us within seven (7) days of a change, or your failure to respond for over fifteen (15) days to our inquiries about the accuracy of your contact details, is a material breach and a basis for suspension and/or cancellation. (RAA §3.7.7.2)
1.3 - If you license your domain to someone else (ICANN-required)
Any registrant that licenses use of its domain to a third party is still the Registered Name Holder of record and is responsible for providing its own full contact information and accurate technical/administrative contact information. Such a registrant accepts liability for harm caused by wrongful use of the domain, unless it discloses the current contact information of the licensee, and the identity of the licensee, within seven (7) days to a party providing reasonable evidence of actionable harm. (RAA §3.7.7.3) This matters if you use a privacy or proxy service.
1.4 - How we use your data (ICANN-required notice and consent)
We collect your registration data to provide the domain, operate registry and directory services, and meet ICANN and legal requirements. Recipients include the registry operator for your TLD, our escrow agent, and others who receive the data from the registry. Some data is required and some voluntary; you can access and correct your data through your account or by contacting us. See our Privacy Policy. By registering or renewing a domain, you consent to this processing. (RAA §3.7.7.4-.6)
If you give us personal data about anyone else (for example, a technical contact who isn't you), you represent that you've given that person the same notice and obtained their consent. (RAA §3.7.7.7)
1.5 - Protecting your data
We take reasonable precautions to protect personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. (RAA §3.7.7.8)
1.6 - No infringement (ICANN-required)
You represent that, to the best of your knowledge, neither the registration nor the way you use your domain infringes the legal rights of any third party. (RAA §3.7.7.9)
2. Directory services (WHOIS/RDAP) and your privacy
2.1 - What's published
Directory data is served over RDAP (which has replaced legacy port-43 WHOIS). Under ICANN's Registration Data Policy, most registrant contact fields are redacted by default. Administrative and billing contacts are no longer collected or published.
2.2 - Contacting a registrant
Public output shows a way to contact the registrant - this may be a web form rather than a published email address, which ICANN permits.
2.3 - Requests for non-public data
Law enforcement, IP owners, and others may request non-public data through our Disclosure Request page. We handle these under Registration Data Policy §10.
2.4 - Data flows by TLD
How much of your data the registry itself holds depends on the registry model: a "thin" registry stores limited data and NameCrane holds the full registrant record; a "thick" registry also holds the full record. The model for each TLD is shown on our Registry & TLD Policies page. In all cases we escrow registration data with an ICANN-approved escrow agent.
3. Fees, renewal, and expiry
Fees are on our Fee Schedule, available to you at the time of registration. Fees are payable in advance, and we won't activate a registration until we have reasonable assurance of payment. Reminders, grace periods, and restore fees follow our Expiration Policy. Non-payment or a chargeback is a basis for suspension or cancellation.
4. Transfers
Inbound/outbound transfers, authorization codes, and 60-day locks follow our Transfer Policy.
4.1 - Designated Agent
You appoint NameCrane as your Designated Agent under ICANN's Transfer Policy to approve Changes of Registrant on your behalf. When you make a Change of Registrant, you may opt out of the 60-day inter-registrar transfer lock at the time of the change.
5. Dispute policies
- UDRP: subject to ICANN's UDRP and the 2024 UDRP Rules, which are incorporated into this agreement by reference.
- TDRP: transfer disputes under ICANN's Transfer Dispute Resolution Policy.
- Status-quo lock: once we're notified that a UDRP or court proceeding concerns your domain, you may not transfer it or change its registration record without our approval until the matter concludes.
- Forward-looking: if we later offer new gTLDs, additional mechanisms (URS, PDDRP, RRDRP, and registry Public Interest Commitments) would apply to those names only. They do not apply to .com, .net, or .org.
6. Registry requirements
Your registration is also subject to the registry policies for your TLD, which flow down through our Registry-Registrar Agreement with the operator. The current TLD↔registry list and policy links are on our Registry & TLD Policies page.
6.1 - Verisign (.com/.net)
Your .com/.net registration is subject to Verisign's registry policies.
6.2 - PIR (.org)
Your .org registration is subject to PIR's policies, including PIR's Anti-Abuse Policy. Under Section 3.6.5 of PIR's Registry-Registrar Agreement, PIR may lock, suspend, delete, or transfer a domain used for abuse (e.g. malware, phishing, pharming, botnets), consistent with PIR's published due-process and appeal procedures.
7. Abuse and suspension
We may suspend, lock, hold, cancel, or transfer a domain to comply with law, ICANN policy, registry policy, a dispute decision, or to address DNS Abuse under our Acceptable Use Policy and Abuse page.
8. Registry indemnification (ICANN-required)
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless - within thirty (30) days of a demand - the registry operator for each TLD and its registry services provider, and their subcontractors, affiliates, shareholders, directors, officers, employees, agents, and assigns, from and against all claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to your domain registration, including its use, registration, renewal, deletion, or transfer. This obligation survives termination or expiration of this agreement. You must be given prompt notice of any claim, and no indemnifiable claim may be settled or compromised without your prior written consent, which may not be unreasonably withheld. (RAA §3.7.7.12; the registry is a third-party beneficiary.)
9. Mutual jurisdiction (ICANN-required)
For the adjudication of disputes concerning or arising from use of your domain, you submit, without prejudice to other applicable jurisdictions, to the courts (1) of NameCrane's principal office and (2) of the registrant's address in the registration data. (RAA §3.7.7.11)

11. Changes
We may update this agreement. For material changes we'll give at least thirty (30) days' notice (posted here and/or by email); changes required by a new or amended ICANN policy, registry policy, or applicable law may take effect immediately. If you don't agree to a change, you may transfer your domain to another registrar or cancel; continued use after a change takes effect is acceptance.
